Building Maintenance Assistant

Cloncurry Shire Council is currently seeking a Building Maintenance Assistant on a Maximum term contract, this contract is to commence as soon as possible and is due to cease on the 30 June 2023. OBJECTIVE OF THIS ROLE                                                                                  Assist Council’s Building Maintenance Supervisor undertake maintenance, repairs and refurbishments of Council’s buildings and infrastructure in accordance with all necessary legislative requirements.  Ensure Council’s building assets are well maintained to a high standard. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS ROLE- General maintenance requirements include, but are not limited to performing minor plumbing repairs, preparation and painting, servicing of evaporative air conditioning, electrical tag and testing, concreting, fencing, lighting, security, and vermin control.- Plan work activities to ensure the achievement of timelines.- Assist with new building construction work.- Provide operational support to other divisions across Council, as necessary.- Supporting supervisor, projects, and contractors with general labouring assistance, by operating hand and power tools and by cleaning and preparing worksites.- Ensuring the worksite and associated equipment is clean, safe, tidy, and ready for use.- Undertake regular auditing of contractor performance to ensure quality assurance.- Under the direction of the Building Maintenance Supervisor, ensure all works comply with the Building Code of Australia, Sustainability and Planning Act 2009, Council’s planning scheme, policies, local laws.- Other duties as reasonably requested within the scope of the position. QUALIFICATIONSMandatory:A current Police ClearanceHold and maintain an unrestricted C class driver’s licence.Possess Construction Industry WhitePossession of a positive notice Blue Card (required to work on site at Child Care facility)Desirable:Bonded Asbestos handling certification is highly desirable.Working at heights certification is highly desirable.Confined spaces certification is highly desirable.Possession of restricted electrical / plumbing work licence is highly desirable. Applications close 23 March 2023 at 5:00pm Cloncurry Shire Council reserves the right to commence recruitment prior to the closing date should a suitable applicant applyPD Building Maintenance Assistant AUD Cloncurry 4824
