Manager Engineering

OBJECTIVE OF THIS ROLEEffectively undertake all engineering work by contributing to both general operations, asset management and special project works of Council including design, supervision, and completion.Areas of works consist of, but are not limited to:Roads, bridges and associated infrastructureDrains, Water and Sewerage infrastructureRecreational and Sporting grounds including services and irrigationPublic Realm Aerodromes and facilitiesBuildings and other Local Government infrastructureAsset Lifecycle Management This outlines the general duties and responsibilities of the position, but is not all encompassing:Develop a comprehensive Engineering Strategy including Asset Management and Planning, Civil Projects and Environmental Engineering, plant operations and maintenance schedules.Lead and develop team members to uphold an efficient and effective technical and strategic direction for technical expertiseDevelop, coordinate and lead the preparation and maintenance of a suite of Engineering plans and practices, including setting parameters and plans or programs of data collectionPrepare and review policy and strategy ensuring compliance with the Local Government Act 2009Coordinate inputs into Long Term Financial Planning ensuring consistency with Asset PlansProvide professional and technical advice and recommendations regarding asset management and system applicationsLiaise with departments to determine requirements and evaluate operational practicesProvide technical input for all projects related to the Engineering and Asset Lifecycle impactsImplement, maintain, and evaluate operational risk management within area of responsibility in accordance with the Risk Management FrameworkContribute to the maintenance and enhancement of Council’s business continuity plans where applicable to the Asset Management businessProvide high quality multifunctional customer service to the Cloncurry Shire Council’s external and internal customers, in accordance with Council’s Business Plan, Code of Conduct, Policies and Strategies.Support and adhere to Council’s policies, protocols and procedures, code of conduct and relevant ActsKEY SELECTION CRITERIADemonstrated knowledge of Civil Engineering design standards and practices related to the development of urban and rural roads projects, including significant working experience utilising Asset Management tools, Auto CAD or similar engineering design softwareDemonstrated knowledge of and significant previous working experience in strategic and operational asset managementUnderstanding of Local Government operations and governanceDemonstrated high level attention to detail and accuracy, with the demonstrated ability to research, think analytically and plan work with proven problem-solving skills to develop potential options and recommendations for resolutionsQUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND LICENCES REQUIREDMandatory:Current Police ClearanceA Degree in Civil Engineering – suitable for membership of Engineers Australia with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience will be considered.Registration to the Board of Professional Engineers in Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory.Diploma of Project Management or related qualification is highly desirable or equivalent industry experienceCurrent "C" class driver’s licence is mandatoryPossession of a current WH&S Construction Safety Induction Card For further information please visit http://careers.cloncurry.qld.gov.au/ or phone 07 4742 4100 and ask to speak to Terri.  Suitable applicants may be interviewed and appointed prior to closing. CLICK HERE FOR POSITION DESCRIPTION AUD Cloncurry 4824
