The 'Curry', as it is affectionately known by locals, is 120km east of Mount Isa and 400km south of the Gulf of Carpentaria. OBJECTIVE OF THIS ROLE                                                                                  The Water Treatment Plant Operator will lead the operation of the council’s’ water treatment facilities including water, disinfection, and other ancillary treatment systems and associated infrastructure in Cloncurry, including Dajarra and Kajabbi, in accordance with best practice and required Statutory, Regulatory and Corporate service standards to achieve required water quality parameters. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITESBe available and involved in an on-call bases for any afterhours requirements under the Operators control, including prompt response to ensure discharge and consumption parameters are not compromised.Respond promptly to operational changes to ensure continuity of supply of treated wastewater and treated potable water to defined standards.Ensure that processes are frequently monitored, chemicals and dosing are kept up and treatment equipment adjusted as necessary.Actively adhere to and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Drinking Water Quality to ensure compliance with:Common LawEnvironmental Protection Act 1994Public Health Act 2005 / Regulation 2018Water Act 2000Drinking Water Guidelines – Regulatory Guidelines 2019Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008Australian Drinking Water GuidelinesPublic Health Act 2005To provide input into reactive and preventative maintenance programs and the development of Emergency Contingency PlansLead a "safety first culture" and adherence to Council’s Water’s Drinking Water Quality, Environmental Management and Asset Management SystemsOutstanding written and verbal communication and negotiation skills Cloncurry Shire Council reserves the right to commence recruitment immediately should a suitable candidate apply.  Applications Close Friday 26th August 2022 at 5:00pm   AUD Cloncurry 4824
