
Activities and Events Coordinator
Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking an Activities and Events Coordinator to lead, plan, coordinate, promote, and deliver a diverse range of events, programs, and activities that strengthen community engagement across the Shire, including Dajarra and Kajabbi.
About the RoleWorking closely with the Community and Cultural Services Manager, this role contributes to enhancing social, cultural, and recreational opportunities that celebrate community spirit, increase visitation, and boost the region’s economic and cultural profile.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary aligned with the QLD Local Government Industry Award- Full Time- Stream A- Level 4-5-$77,000 to $ 86,000 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) + Superannuation.
- 5 weeks Annual Leave (with 17.5% Leave Loading)

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver a yearly calendar of community, sport, arts, and cultural events, including the Beat the Heat Festival, Australia Day, Easter and Christmas Fairs, Seniors events, and youth programs.
- Develop and implement effective promotional strategies across multiple platforms.
- Prepare sponsorship proposals, funding submissions, and grant acquittals.
- Manage event budgets, contracts, and volunteer coordination.
- Act as the primary point of contact for local organisations, including Cloncurry PCYC, sport and recreation groups, and the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).
- Build positive relationships with artists, performers, businesses, and community groups to deliver engaging, safe, and inclusive events.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, and event evaluations in line with Council procedures.
- Work flexibly, including weekends and after hours, to support event delivery.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating, and delivering events or community programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
- Excellent time management, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of marketing, promotions, and event management principles.
- A passion for community engagement and fostering local participation.
- Current Police Clearance.
- Current and unrestricted Class P2 or above Driver’s Licence.
- Ability to work outside standard business hours as required.
- Tertiary qualification in Event Management, Community Development, Arts, or Marketing.
- Previous experience in Local Government or community-based organisations.
- Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety practices.
- Pre-employment medical (fitness for work) may be required.
