Airport Reporting Officer

Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking a reliable and motivated Airport Reporting Officer to join our Infrastructure and Environment Department.About the Role:Reporting to the Airport Manager, this hands-on role is essential in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the Cloncurry Airport in accordance with the requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), the Department of Home Affairs, and Council’s Aerodrome Manual.The successful candidate will conduct daily airside inspections, perform maintenance tasks, and support airport operations to ensure a high standard of presentation, safety, and service for pilots, passengers, and the community.What We Offer:Full Time- Stream B- Level 4 (OAP) -$80,000 to $86,000 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) + Superannuation.5 weeks Annual Leave (with 17.5% Leave Loading)Monthly RDO (13 per year)Personal (Sick) LeaveRemote Area Housing AllowanceKey Responsibilities:Conduct daily runway, boundary, and airside inspections in compliance with CASA and Home Affairs regulations.Monitor and issue NOTAMs (Notice to Airmen) and track local weather patterns.Communicate effectively with incoming and outgoing pilots and other airport users.Perform general maintenance and cleaning of airport facilities, including mowing, lighting repairs, and fencing maintenance.Support ramp handling activities such as aircraft parking, baggage handling, and passenger marshalling.Maintain accurate records of aircraft movements and passenger numbers.Participate in emergency response exercises and wildlife management activities.Provide assistance at remote airstrips such as Dajarra, Kajabbi, and Duchess as required. About You:To be successful in this role, you will have:A good understanding of airport operations and relevant regulations.Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and compliance.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Good problem-solving and time management abilities.Reliability, professionalism, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.Mandatory requirements:Unrestricted C Class Driver’s LicenceCurrent Police ClearanceCurrent Senior First Aid/CPR CertificateDesirable qualifications:CASA-recognised Airport Reporting Officer and Work Safety Officer certificate or ability to obtain;Airside Driver’s Licence (minimum Level 3) or the ability to quickly acquire.Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate or the ability to quickly acquire.Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) or the ability to quickly acquire.A and B Firearms Licence (or ability to obtain)Pre-employment medical (fitness for work) may be required.For a more detailed job outline, please refer to the attached PD.Locals are encouraged to apply!
