You will work closely with businesses and industry to identify opportunities, support new and existing operators and help deliver initiatives that contribute to the region’s continued growth.Key responsibilities:Building strong relationships between Council, local businesses, Chambers of Commerce, tourism operators, government and community stakeholdersSupporting businesses looking to establish, expand or invest in CloncurryDelivering economic development initiatives including investment attraction, urban renewal and revitalisation programsDeveloping destination marketing content and supporting promotional and public relations activitiesCollecting and analysing economic and tourism data to identify trends and opportunitiesPreparing funding and grant applications and supporting project delivery and acquittalsWorking with industry to identify development, training and tourism opportunitiesSupporting local events, programs, visitor services and promotional activities.About You:We are seeking a proactive and highly organised officer who can build strong relationships with local businesses, government, community groups and industry stakeholders. About The Role:

Reporting to the Tourism and Economic Development Manager, you will help deliver Council’s economic development priorities and promote Cloncurry as both a place to do business and a unique tourism destination.

The role brings together economic development, stakeholder engagement, project delivery, investment attraction, tourism promotion and grants. You will work closely with businesses and industry to identify opportunities, support new and existing operators and help deliver initiatives that contribute to the region’s continued growth.

Key responsibilities:

  • Building strong relationships between Council, local businesses, Chambers of Commerce, tourism operators, government and community stakeholders
  • Supporting businesses looking to establish, expand or invest in Cloncurry
  • Delivering economic development initiatives including investment attraction, urban renewal and revitalisation programs
  • Developing destination marketing content and supporting promotional and public relations activities
  • Collecting and analysing economic and tourism data to identify trends and opportunities
  • Preparing funding and grant applications and supporting project delivery and acquittals
  • Working with industry to identify development, training and tourism opportunities
  • Supporting local events, programs, visitor services and promotional activities.

About You:

  • Experience supporting or delivering projects, programs or economic development initiatives
  • Strong planning, organisation and time-management skills
  • Confidence preparing reports, presentations, funding applications and other professional documentation
  • Sound problem-solving, negotiation and creative-thinking skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with businesses, government, community organisations and volunteer-based groups
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly.

Mandatory Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in a field relevant to economic development or demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Current Class C Driver Licence.
Desirable
  • Experience working within a local government environment.
