Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking an experienced Manager Planning & Environment to join Infrastructure and Environment team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader with extensive experience in planning, environmental health and regulatory services, passionate about delivering high-quality services to the community while leading a multidisciplinary team.What We Offer:Full time – Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A) Award – $115,000 to $125,000 per annum (Depending on Qualifications and Experience) + SuperannuationHousing subject to negotiationPersonal (Sick) LeaveFive weeks annual leave, with 17.5% leave loadingMonthly RDO (13 per year)Locality AllowanceAbout The Role:Reporting to the Director Infrastructure and Environment, the Manager Planning and Environment leads Council's planning, development assessment, environmental health, local laws, regulatory compliance and waste functions. About The Role:

About You:

You will demonstrate:

  • Extensive leadership experience within planning, environmental health, regulatory compliance or a related local government environment
  • Strong knowledge of planning, development assessment, environmental health, local laws, regulatory compliance and waste management functions
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, policies and statutory requirements
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors, operational budgets and service delivery outcomes
  • Sound regulatory decision-making skills, including evidence-based enforcement action and procedural fairness
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across government, industry and the community
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organisational change, mentor staff and drive a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
  • Sound understanding of local disaster management responsibilities and emergency management planning

Mandatory Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in planning, environmental health, environmental science, law, public administration or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated senior experience in local government planning, environmental or regulatory services
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal history check, as required by Council
  • Hold and maintain an unrestricted C Class Driver Licence
  • Eligibility for appointment as an authorised person under relevant legislation, where required

Desirable:

  • Experience in a comparable management role within local government
