Plant Operator/Labourer- Town Streets
Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking a Plant Operator / Labourer to join our Town Streets team within the Infrastructure & Environment Department.

About the Role
The Plant Operator / Labourer – Town Streets undertakes a range of operational and labouring duties to support Council’s town maintenance and works programs. The position involves operating small plant and equipment, carrying out maintenance tasks across town streets and public areas, and ensuring works are completed safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will assist with a variety of duties, including:
- Grass cutting and maintenance of town streets, parks, gardens and open spaces
- Street maintenance activities such as pothole patching, footpath repairs and kerb and channel repairs
- Line marking, sign maintenance and guidepost repairs
- Litter and garbage collection
- Slashing and vegetation management
- Graffiti removal and general labouring duties
- Operating plant and machinery within licence and competency levels
- Conducting pre-start checks and reporting defects on plant and equipment
- Identifying hazards and contributing to a safe workplace environment
- Assisting with Council works programs as directed by the Urban Works Supervisor
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience in a similar labouring or plant operator role
- Experience operating small plant and equipment such as mowers, whipper snippers or similar machinery.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong awareness of Workplace Health and Safety practices
- Good communication skills and a positive work attitude
- Ability to complete tasks within expected timeframes and maintain a high standard of work
Mandatory Requirements
- Current MR Driver Licence
- Construction White Card (required prior to commencement)
- Current Police Clearance
Desirable
- Traffic Control or Traffic Management accreditation
- HR Driver Licence
- Experience operating a range of plant and machinery.
