As the first point of contact for many visitors, the Tourism Officer plays a vital role in delivering friendly, accurate, and engaging information about Cloncurry and the Queensland region. About the Role

This full-time position is based at Cloncurry Unearthed Visitor Information Centre and Museum, a key tourism hub for the region. As the first point of contact for many visitors, the Tourism Officer plays a vital role in delivering friendly, accurate, and engaging information about Cloncurry and the Queensland region. You’ll assist with daily centre operations, exhibitions, and merchandise, and play an active role in planning and supporting community events and tourism initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to visitors and the community
  • Provide tourist information across the local area, region, and state
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Visitor Information Centre and Museum
  • Promote Cloncurry as a tourism destination through displays, events, and guided tours
  • Assist with exhibitions and events at Cloncurry Unearthed
  • Maintain merchandise displays, process sales, and reconcile cash handling
  • Monitor visitor statistics and maintain records
  • Collaborate with other cultural and tourism facilities in the Shire
  • Support with general upkeep of the centre and surrounding garden areas
  • Work flexibly, including weekends or evenings when required

Essential Requirements
  • Attainment of year 12 level of education is desirable.
  • Current manual ‘C’ Class driver’s licence
  • Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or ability to obtain
  • National Police Clearance
Desirable
  • Diploma or higher qualification in Tourism or a related field
  •  Previous experience in visitor centres, museums, or events
