WTP Operator – Trainee Role

The 'Curry', as it is affectionately known by locals, is 120km east of Mount Isa and 400km south of the Gulf of Carpentaria.About the Role Reporting to the Water and Sewer Supervisor the role requires assisting the Team to efficiently and reliably operate and maintain the water and sewerage treatment plants and associated infrastructure in Cloncurry Shire.This is a trainee role designed for career development.  At the completion of a successful probation period the employee will be enrolled in a Certificate III in Water Treatment Plant Operations, and their role will be designed to give the necessary experience to become a WTP Operator. Key ResponsibilitiesThe following outlines the general duties and responsibilities of the position, but is not all encompassing.To assist with and train in the:Monitoring, operation and maintenance of the sewerage and water treatment plants and their pumps, equipment, and assets;Recording of daily results of flow meter, electric meter, plant and equipment hour meters;Collection and recording of daily sample tests;Calibration of dosing pumps and adjust dosing rates in accordance to test results;Entering of test results onto spreadsheet on computer;Monitoring and recording of chemical usage and reordering of chemicals and equipment as required;Collation and provision of information on performance, including but not limited to flow rates, quality or other issues;QualificationsMust hold and maintain an unrestricted "C" Class driver’s licence;The ability to acquire Certificate III in Water Treatment Plant Operations (with training);Must have or acquire before commencement a Construction White Card;Possess Confined Spaces Certification (or the ability to acquire); Applications Close Monday 8 April at 5:00pm  Cloncurry Shire Council reserves the right to commence recruitment prior to the closing date should a suitable candidate apply.  AUD Cloncurry 4824
